There is Smoke Under Them Thar Helmets

THERE IS SMOKE UNDER THEM THAR HELMETS

About all I can say regarding the 2010 NASCAR season is, I'll give NASCAR an A- grade. Jimmie Johnson is boring the hell out of me winning races, but the "have it, boys" policy is working wonders in helping to revitalize the sport. Case in point: Martinsville.

Matt Kenseth got into Jeff Gordon, Gordon didn't like it, and punted him up the track. Short Track Racing? Tempers? Or Drivers policing themselves? All three, if you ask me, and it's about damn time.

Last year, in fear of retribution from NASCAR, Gordon's interview would have been something like, "Aw, Shucks, it's just a racing deal." This year, he spoke his mind. He flat out said, He wasn't going to let Kenseth win the race after that move. FLAT OUT SAID IT.

Hallelujah!!!! Drivers are finally being allowed to be human, get pissed off and show it. You try to punt me at 100 MPH at Martinsville, and I'm gonna get a little hot under the helmet, too. That being said, Kenseth himself, admitted it was a stupid move. Given the history that these two already have, this might just be the rivalry NASCAR has been looking for to detract from The Jimmie Johnson Show. But that's another blog.

Speaking of rivalries, Edwards vs. Kezelowski. Trust me, friends. It had all the makings of a classic, but that one's over. For some strange reason, I really believe that they made nice during that hauler meeting. Of course, there is most certainly a pig somewhere in the hills of Tennessee that can really whistle. Over? Not by a long shot. When Edwards' probation ends after the Phoenix race in two weeks, both of those shops had better stock up on the paint, and get ready to pay lots of overtime to the body shops. This one is just getting started.

Anyhow, this is my introductory blog on my insights to NASCAR. I will encourage you to participate! Every Friday we'll have a mailbag moderation session, where you can ask questions, vent, rant, rave and give your opinions as well. I haven't come up with a name for it yet, so please send your suggestions on that as well. On a personal note, I'd like to thank Mr. Jay Hart at Yahoo! Sports for encouraging me to do this. I went to him seeking counsel regarding my writings, and he was more than generous with his time and advice. With the millions of emails he must get every week, he took the time to personally write me back and give his advice. That speaks volumes for the kind of man, and professional he is. If you don't catch his Happy Hour every Tuesday at www.yahoo.com, you're not only missing out on the pulse of NASCAR, you're missing out on some damn fine writing and one true smart-ass good time. Or, you're smoking something other than Marlboros. Also, you can chat with him during every single race of the season. Thank You, Mr. Hart.

Jump in on the fun by emailing me at RJDaDJ@yahoo.com. Be forewarned, letters filled with expletives, or bashing peoples Mothers will not be published. Stupid people will be dealt with accordingly. Let's have some fun, and may God Bless you and yours this Easter season.
